Siding!

Big week this week, not only at the construction site, but for our family.  We've been blessed with the addition of Baby Eli - we're already so in love with him!

As for the house, siding started and it is SO beautiful!  It wouldn't be a normal week this winter if I didn't say we lost some time due to weather - and we did.  The guys had to deal with snow so heavy that the siding was completely covered with snow just from the time they measured to the time they got to the saw.  Once it rained, the ground was so icy, they just slid downhill when standing still.  Despite that, we're coming along well and the house is looking gorgeous.  Decking also got started when it was too slippery to side.

Todd is almost finished with spraying the trim and it looks phenomenal!  And, most exciting: the countertops are getting installed on Wednesday!

It's been difficult to capture the siding color in photos, although this is close.  I do so love the color!

I'm so happy we went with the barn red...Countrylane Red to be exact - such a happy name.

Here's the start of the decking.

The painted trim in the mudroom - love love the wainscoting!

Can't wait to get the painting done and surfaces installed to complete this picture!

Exterior Trim.

This was one of those weeks where lots was happening, although the inside look hasn't changed a huge amount.  Todd started prepping the space for painting.  I didn't take photos because everything is sealed and taped and not much fun to look at.  I think he'll actually spray the trim this coming Monday, then use the rest of the week to roll the final coat on the walls.  I really can't wait to see the finished trim!

Mark and his crew moved outside, as expected.  Another couple of days of sub-zero temps limited their work this week; however, all the snow did get cleared and the exterior trim was started.  Pictures are below of the back of the house which now has trim and soffit.  The front will be finished next week and...the siding will arrive on Monday.  So excited to see that red siding go up!

The garage floor has been prepped and the coating will be applied on Monday.  Once that's done, it needs 24 hours to cure, then Mark will trim out the garage and Todd will paint it.  Fancy.

Our lovely kitchen shop owners, Dan and Mark Scholten, have each mentioned putting this house in the Parade of Homes this year - WOW!  What a huge compliment!!  Mark and Angi and I have been talking about it and have lots to consider in that regard.  We're also thinking we may want to have an open house so friends, family and prospective clients could walk through and take a look.  I've had so much interest from blog followers, I think it would be a good way for everyone to be able to see the finished product after following the blog all these months!

Beautiful!

This is one of my all-time favorite places outside thus far.  This is the south side of the house and has giant pine trees edging the property.  They shade the house and also make a lovely spot at the foot of the rock wall on that side of the house.  The branches are high enough for the kids to tuck under and use it as a secret spot for a fort or reading...magical!

Finishing The Trim.

Another week of alot of goings on at the house!  So much fun to see so many things happening at once.  All of the trim work on the main floor was completed this week, which includes: all baseboard and shoe molding, fur strips in the mudroom, all closet shelving, kitchen sink base and bathroom cabinets getting set.

Mark will now move outside while Todd, the painter, moves inside.  There is a ton of trim in this house, so he will be there awhile - I can hardly wait to see the final coat of paint go up.  Mark is going to start snow removal tomorrow (there must be nearly 3 feet of snow all around the house), then start the outside decking.

I chose my final colors for the garage floor coating, which will be done by the end of this week if the product arrives in time.

For the fireplace tile, we used the grout that was used for the floors - and it turned out to be exactly the right thing!

Fireplace was tiled and surround and mantel were built this week.

Kitchen sink!!

The ends were placed on the island...

Pete came to fill in while Levi is on vacation...he did an amazing job staining the register vents!

Mark put this switch plate in the mudroom where the fur strips are...love it!

And...this has to be the most beautiful dryer vent ever!

Time for Cabinets!

BIG week at the house!  All the tile was laid and grouted in the bathrooms and laundry room and ... the kitchen cabinets arrived and were installed!  They are so gorgeous - I love the finish and love the way they look already.

Hanging the range hood was definitely a multi-person project.

I can now say I've helped build this house, as I fetched material for Levi while he was stuck in the corner.  This is the laundry room...same paint color as mud room, but looks much different with the natural light.

Here's the grouted floor in the powder room.  So happy the tile and paint work so well together.

The island!

A ton of room between the island and perimeter cabinets - yay!

Kitchen side of island.

This is the cabinet in the pantry...there will be shelves above and on the wall to the right.

And here is a tease of the mudroom with fur strips installed...
